About Police Exploring and Our Post

The Huber Heights Police Explorer Post #57 has been in operation since May of 1979. The Explorer Post is headed by the Advisor, Mark Bruns, and is assisted by Associate Advisors Officer Kurt Green and a civilian Dan Tucker.

The Explorer Post prepares young men and women for a career in law enforcement. Explorers are instructed in police procedures, law, and hands-on experience by riding with police officers on a tour of duty. They take part in and participate in police training functions throughout the year. These functions are designed to let them experience various areas of law enforcement under close supervision. These functions  include providing security, crowd and traffic control at public events, evidence collection and searches. Law Enforcement Explorer posts help promote the growth and development of adolescent youth.

The purposes of the Explorer Post are:

  1. To increase the understanding between the youth of the community and the Huber Heights Police Division.

  2. To guide qualified young men and women into a career in Law Enforcement.

  3. To provide the opportunity for citizenship, service, fitness outdoor, social and vocational experiences necessary for young men and women to be better prepared to take their places in the community as citizens.
